Analytical Studio Professional - Compound QC Overview
What is it?
Analytical Studio Professional - Compound QC, (ASPro-Compound QC) is a MicrosoftTM compatible software desktop product specifically designed to meet the needs of scientists looking to determine the presence of one or more target substances based on mass or formula. This is typically done using LC-Mass Spectrometry (LC/MS), UV and a mixture of ELSD and/or CLND detectors.
Who is it for?
Typically ASPro-Compound QC and Analytical Studio Reviewer are used by Analytical Scientists, R&D Chemists, Synthetic Chemists, Drug Discovery Chemists, Process Chemists, Open Access LC/MS Analytical Services.
What should you expect?
ASPro-Compound QC has been tested and fined tuned on millions of samples both within the Pharmaceutical and CRO sectors to ensure accurate, reliable and advanced analysis of your LC/MS, UV, ELSD and CLND data.
It features many unique and intelligent processing features; proven to significantly reduce the need for downstream reprocessing and manual manipulation of the results; ultimately saving you precious time.

Additional Information
What happens to the original raw data?
No changes are made to the original raw data
Often we are asked, "What happens to the original raw data? Is it changed in any way?". Of uppermost importance; is that the original raw instrument data is never altered in any way by Virscidian. We open the raw files using translators provided by the original instrument vendors and then convert the files into Virscidian's internal format. Any processing actions, results and additional information which happens as a result of processing and/or data review are added only to the Virscidian produced files.
What are the main steps involved in getting results?
Step 1 - Select the file type you want to process - this is typically the raw data from the instrument you used to acquire your data.
Step 2 - ASPro-Compound QC opens the original raw data, converts it "on-the-fly" into Virscidian's file format, known as an ASA file.
Step 3 - The import and conversion process is made for all data files that you requested. This can be a single file, 10's, or 1000's of files, in plate or vial formats or as a mix of vials and plates.
Step 4 - The files maybe processed automatically as they are converted using the processing method you define, or you may decide to do this yourself when you are ready.
Step 5 - You review your results making any required updates. Samples maybe reprocessed individually, as a selection of samples or as the entire batch.
Step 6 - Report your results in Microsoft Word and Excel, Adobe Acrobat PDF, or Virscidian's ASR file format which is also compatible with Waters RPT format (These files are read by Analytical Studio Reviewer), or simply to your printer. If you want custom formats, these can also be implemented.
Step 7 - Publish your results to your corporate information systems such as databases, data archives, ELN or LIMS systems.
Can multiple detectors be used for purity and concentration determinations?
Yes
ASPro-Compound QC can use multiple detector types and data streams to calculate both purity and the concentration of the target substance(s).
Can multiple target substances be searched for in a single sample?
Yes
ASPro-Compound QC supports multiple target substance analysis on a per sample basis. Entry of substance information is either by mass or by formula, though formula will produce a superior result as we search and pattern match all the isotopes.
Can information such as formulae and other input information be automatically pulled from my corporate systems?
Yes absolutely
Virscidian can work with you to produce appropriate plug-ins that will extract appropriate information from one or more corporate information systems, which is then used in the sample processing stages.
Can corrections be made for solvents when calculating concentration?
Yes
ASPro-Compound QC comes as standard with a number of mobile phase correction algorithms for more accurate concentration calculation.
Can final results and reports be written into my ELN, LIMS or other corporate information systems?
Yes
Using our plug-in technologies we can efficiently integrate any of our compatible output into other information systems including Laboratory Information Systems (LIMS) and Electronic Laboratory Notebooks (ELN).

Key factors affecting quality of results
Typically "Sample-to-Report-Time" and "Accuracy of the final result" are two key factors in a discussion about result quality.
How does ASpro-Compound QC overcome these factors?
"Sample-to-Report-Time" is impacted strongly with how accurately the data is processed first time and how much manual processing rework must be done to deliver the final result. The need for repeated reprocessing or manual reintegration due to poor peak detection and baseline generation are just some of the most popular reasons for failure. ASPro-Compound QC delivers significantly increased result accuracy because of the Virscidian adaptive baselining technology, our interactive peak tuning and filtering system which help you deliver finely tuned methods first time around.
When you have accurately processed results the first time, then you can expect the lowest "Sample-to-result" times - something that ASPro-Compound QC has been optimized for.
"Sample-to-Report-Time" is also heavily impacted by the amount of time that it takes to formally QC the results. If you trust the processing accuracy and the software reliably flags samples that contain issues that you want to be made aware of, then the amount of sample QC can be reduced to those samples with issues. You may decide to add a cursory scan of the sample results with no reported issues but as long as these samples are known to be good, then you can focus on the issues. ASPro-Compound QC includes the "At-a-glance" sample summary, "Auto-Sample Advance" and "Quality View System" for advanced workflow based result warning and visualization. These technologies combine to deliver rapid "Sample-to-Report-Time" turn-around times.
