Microscale Automated High-Throughput Purification of Libraries

Discover how Novartis used Virscidian's Analytical Studio to automate data analysis and decision-making, transforming drug purification from days to hours

Microscale Automated High-Throughput Purification of Libraries

Scientists at Novartis revolutionized their drug discovery workflow by developing an automated, microscale high-throughput purification platform for compound libraries. By transitioning from traditional large-volume synthesis to a microscale 96-well plate format and implementing Virscidian's Analytical Studio software for automated decision-making, they achieved dramatic improvements in efficiency. The new workflow reduced purification time from over a week to just 42 hours per plate, while maintaining high success rates (84.4%) and sample purity (average 94.1%). This automated system has successfully processed over 308 high-throughput experiments, yielding more than 8,759 unique compounds suitable for profiling experiments and compound archives, demonstrating its effectiveness in removing a significant bottleneck in the drug discovery process.
